NOTICE

The Comprehensive Rezoning Process has begun. The Howard County Department of Planning and Zoning is now accepting proposals for zoning map and regulation amendments through December 14, 2012. The Department of Planning and Zoning expects to file its petition before the Council in late 2012 or early 2013, and it is expected that the County Council will begin holding hearings on Comprehensive Rezoning in the Spring of 2013.

The Zoning Board will not hear any “change-mistake” piecemeal rezoning cases once the petition has been filed before the Council. The Zoning Board cannot therefore guarantee that hearings on “change-mistake” piecemeal applications initiated between now and when Comprehensive Zoning hearings begin will conclude for final decision before Comprehensive Zoning is adopted. Therefore, anyone with a pending “change-mistake” piecemeal rezoning application awaiting a Zoning Board hearing or anyone considering filing such a rezoning application is strongly encouraged to make their rezoning requests a part of the upcoming Comprehensive Zoning process.
